Saylesville Elementary School - Lincoln, RI - Anti-Bullying
Bullying is, unfortunately, becoming more prevalent in our schools. It is known to have long-lasting harmful effects on both the victim and the bully. The US Department of Justice suggests many things to reduce bullying in schools. One of these is a whole-school approach in elementary schools. What better way to involve the whole school than with an assembly?
My goal with Buddies Not Bullies is to create a positive message and to promote respect for each other by using the magic that is inside of us. The presentation will encourage students to internalize the importance of the anti-bullying message through storytelling and magic trick. The association between the good feeling of the program and its message will help them to retain the information and recall it when needed.
Inspire your students to be Buddies Not Bullies. Let me show them the magic inside of them.

Amazing Magic Tricks:Nothing captures attention more than magic. My tricks are an important part of the program and emphasize the power of friendship, teamwork, and respect.
Age-Appropriate Humor:Who doesn’t love to laugh? Humor is a tried-and-true way to engage kids’ interest. I use jokes throughout the program to keep them interested in the anti-bullying message.
Join-In-Fun:
My assembly program incorporates student volunteers. The boys and girls love to help me make magic happen in their schools!
Real LIfe Examples:Concepts are more easily understood if presented in a way that kids can relate to. When Willie the Worm and Bob the Bully get to know each other, they both become beautiful butterflies. This illustration of the power of respect helps students understand how these lessons can work in real life.
Hilarious Storytelling:I'll have the students and the teachers laughing out loud with my one of a kind personal story about a roll of toilet paper. You've never heard something so funny with such a great meaning behind it until you listen to this!
Teamwork:Teamwork is one of the keys to respect and I highlight this in one portion of my program. Wait until you see how effective your students are in their next team assignment!
