You have just sent out the invitations and already you are feeling exhausted at all the work that you have already put in to ensure that the kids have lots of fun and that the birthday is a huge success.

I don’t want to be the one to blow your bubble but the truth is that this is the moment when all the hard work truly begins. This is because the two aspects that make or break any party now have to be carefully considered and decisions made. You will need to plan for the party meal or snack and you will also have to arrange for the entertainment. If you go and mess up these two aspects nothing else you do matters and you can be sure everything will be a total flop.

There are a number of special considerations you should keep in mind when planning food for children. How easy or messy will it be for them to eat the food you choose? This is one of the reasons why in selecting the theme of the party you will need to think through to the food that goes with the theme. Depending on the age of the children there are certain types of food that are way too messy and will ruin the party. More so if the set-up is a do-it-yourself party in your home.

Sometimes things go wrong when parents fail to give enough time to decorate the cake in line with the theme. Children just adore birthday cakes that are based on the party theme and will quickly notice if something is missing.

The entertainment is equally important. Keeping children occupied is a very difficult thing to achieve. Their attention spans are too short and when you have so many children gathered in one place chaos can result if you are not careful.
