Fun Games for Summer Camp or a Kids Birthday

Everybody knows that you need plenty of games to keep summer camp interesting for the kids.

Have you ever considered Hula-Hoop? All you have to do is pick up hula-loops at the store, 5 will be enough for a very large group. The object of the game is to see who can hula-hoop the longest.

An old favorite that never disappoints, even in summer camp is musical chairs. No kid wants to be the one left with standing room only. The game is such fun and yet so simple to organize and play. Juts set up the chairs in a circle or in a line and then start playing the music. Everyone walks around the hairs until the music suddenly stops and they have to sit down right away. Whoever is left standing without a chair to sit on drops out. Before the game continues you have to remember to take away another chair so that there is always one chair short. This continues until there is only one player left in the game who is declared the winner.

Cake Walk is very similar and an equally fan game to consider as one of your activities in summer camp. You start by setting up a circle of different numbers with each contestant standing on a number. You should then play some music (preferably festive music) and then after a short while stop the music suddenly and draw out a number from a hat/ Whoever is standing on that particular number is the winner. This game is called Cake walk because the prize for the victor is usually a cake. However there is nothing to stop you from giving out any other gift you find appropriate for your summer camp crowd.

Don’t forget to play real energy supping games for the kids and the three legged race is a good example. Everybody should get a partner and then have one of their legs tied to that of their partners. They should then race when they are tied to see who is fastest. Apart from enhancing team work this is a very exciting game that is well loved.
