If you are a parent, it’s likely that at some time when your child returned from school and you asked about their day they said, “We had an assembly.” And then you, of course, asked what it was about. And they said, “I don’t know.” Or maybe they gave you a few vague details about a guy reading from a book he wrote or somebody who survived a war. Whatever it was, there was no real lasting impression. That’s because the school assembly coordinator was thinking like an adult.

Those presenters were probably very interesting if you were over 25. Now, just for a minute, think like a 6 year old. Seriously. Pretend you’re 6 and you go to Clara T. O’Connell, Edgewood, Ellen P. Hubbell, Greene-Hills, Ivy Drive, or Mountain View School. Your teacher has just announced that you will be going to an assembly today. You close your eyes and imagine (remember, you’re 6) the perfect assembly. It will be magic.
