Domino the Great’s Party Do’s & Don’ts
It’s best to leave a 15 to 30 minute window for young guests to trickle in. Scheduling the show for the exact time that your guests are supposed to arrive usually results in a few late-comers. I want everyone to be able to enjoy the show from the very start! |
It is recommended that the show be held indoors, as having it outside can cause unwanted distractions (wind, animals, planes, traffic, etc.). I also recommend that a room in the house without any toys in it be chosen for the venue for the show, so that there will be fewer distractions indoors, as well. If there are toys in the room, I will request that they be removed for the duration of the show. My routine is designed to captivate all children … even those with comparatively short attention spans, so minor distractions can become major hindrances to everyone. |
Adults are always welcome to stay for the show and to sit with your little ones. I not only welcome, but encourage, adult supervision during the show for your peace of mind. While the show is extremely interactive, I ask that children and parents avoid outside conversations; if you or other parents would like to talk, it’s usually less distracting for kids if you do so in another room and easier for me to keep their interest! |
All children are of different sensibilities, and some may be a bit frightened of magic, so if a child is afraid and starts to cry during the show, I attempt to put them at ease. However, if that isn’t effective, I usually suggest that a parent take him or her out of the room for a little bit until he or she is comfortable, or you can sit with them during the routine to calm any frazzled nerves. Also, for their own well-being, I ask that parents please sit with toddlers and not let them “roam free.” |
If you have any pets, I ask that they be temporarily held elsewhere so as not to disturb the show. Dogs and cats are adorable, but take my word for it: They make terrible assistants. |
Food and drink during the show can be very distracting to kids, so I request that food and drink be served before or after (not during) the show. Lots of laughter blended with both food and beverage is an unsafe combination for the health of your children and your carpet. |
Save the opening of presents until after the show, as new toys and goodies will probably distract the birthday child and the rest of the gang. |
Have your camera ready! Make sure that you have plenty of film/memory for it, that it’s adequately charged, and that you have extra batteries standing by. There will be plenty of opportunities to take some silly and memorable photos! You may video tape the show; however, I ask that you not use it for commercial purposes without prior written consent. |
| |
MANDATORY: I ask that everyone (especially you) sit back, relax and enjoy the show |
